Once upon a time I didn't want to spend an hour making BBQ sauce. Shocker, right? I generally make large batches of BBQ sauce to keep in the freezer, but sometimes I don't plan ahead. I pretty much hate buying BBQ sauce because it's generally loaded with sugar, and you never know if it'll give you that perfect balance of spice and sweet. So instead I came up with this super quick glaze that can slathered on meat like BBQ sauce, gives plenty of sweetness, with a bit of savory and smoky.
Just like the name says, it only takes 5 minutes to throw together, so it is weeknight dinner approved! You probably already have all the ingredients you need, which makes this even easier. My favorite way to eat it is slathered on ribs, but then again, what doesn't taste good on ribs?
5 Minute Maple Mustard Glaze
- In a small pan over medium-high heat, whisk together all ingredients.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat and continue to simmer.
- Simmer until the mixture gets thicker and darker, and halves in volume- about 5 minutes.
